Canada: Barley exports drop to 2 mln tonnes in August 2021-July 2022 from 3.7 mln the year before

Canada’s barley exports in August 2021-July 2022 were 2.0 mln tonnes, of which 1.8 mln tonnes to China. A year before shipments were 3.7 mln tonnes and 3.5 mln to China. There were no new crop barley sales to China reported during the month, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier this month. .

The latest crop forecast is 9.35 mln tonnes (2021: 6.95 mln tonnes, 2020: 10.7 mln).

The trade expects a larger tonnage, weather conditions are benign. Exports in 2022/23 may reach 3.5 mln tonnes, as U.S. corn will fill again part, although a much smaller one, of the domestic feed demand.
